Dairy Shed Ventilation: Why Roof Pitch and Eave Height Matter

Dairy shed ventilation — design guide cover
Heat stress is one of the biggest hidden costs in Pakistani dairy operations, quietly reducing milk yield through the hottest months of the year — and shed design is one of the most effective, one-time fixes available.
Roof pitch controls how effectively hot air rises and exits through ridge ventilation; too shallow a pitch traps heat at the roofline. Eave height controls how much cross-ventilation reaches the herd at standing height, where it actually matters.
ABY's dairy shed designs are built around natural cross-ventilation first, sizing ridge vents and eave openings to the shed's width and local wind patterns before we ever consider mechanical fans as a supplement.
The result, based on client feedback across our completed dairy sheds, is a visibly calmer herd through summer months and more consistent milk yield.
